Naval Group and Ecole Centrale de Nantes print the world's first hollow blade

SIREHNA, a subsidiary of NAVAL GROUP and the Ecole centrale de Nantes are leading the design of the blade with the aim of improving energy efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of the thrusters. The work of SIREHNA has enabled an overall optimization of the blade in terms of performance and endurance, but also a significant reduction of radiated noise and vibrations. The reduction of the environmental footprint related to propulsion, demonstrated in the case of the H2020 RAMSSES project, is an issue for any type of vessel, and especially for large carriers.
